Rastrick ‘B’ 0-1 Northowram Rams
Opening Day Win for the Rams U10’s.Complete domination of the game but only one goal!!!
Sunny with a brisk South Easterly wind were the conditions at Rastrick for our opening day fixture. Captain Robert Wood won the toss and chose to kick off the new season for the Rams. With the wind behind us the Rams soon got back into their form of the previous season with some excellent passing from defensive to attack. Northowram debutant Matthew Owen was winning most of the midfield battles aided by Harris Reid and Euan McCay upfront chance after chance seemed to go begging as strikers Thomas Conlon and Kaellan Reid had numerous shots only to see their keeper in magnificent form. As the Rams poured forward Rastrick did have the occasional break which resulted in them hitting the bar. Other than that Ram keeper Jack Allwood hardly had a save to make.
Half Time 0-0
Again as the second half began the Rams went forward in search of a deserved goal. Jamie Sheldon broke down the right taking on two players before rifling a shot that came back off the bar. Thomas Ketteringham also getting in on the act with some good incisive passing and a couple of near shots. Lucas Waterworth proved a thorn in the opposition side always finding space on the left wing and delivering three or four telling crosses that were begging to finished off in the box. It was seeming like one of those days when Matthew O won the ball in defence before hitting the ball out wide to Jamie S. The ball eventually being crossed into the feet of Thomas Conlon who span and shot high into the top corner to alleviate the managers and parents frustration. Having the lead meant the Rams could relax and let the home side come at them whilst passing the ball around them. No further threat came from them as the away side picked up the 3 points in a richly deserved win.
Well done boys good start to the season
