Another battling display from the Juniors against top of the league Unita today. The lads have come on in big leaps this season, and games like this show they are a match for anyone in division 1. The fact we were missing 4 key players puts this performance into even better perspective.
The first half was the best team performance of the season to date, and it saw the lads 2-0 up at half time. Tom rose like a phoenix to head in the first goal after 5 or so minutes, after a great corner from Pierce. 20 minutes in, and a goalmouth scramble saw Tapa squeeze the ball over the line to give the lads a deserved 2-0 nil lead after a dominant first period.
Second half, and Unita were going for bust. We had lost Max just before half time to injury, and we were operating with one sub and tired bodies. Eventually around the 60 minute mark Unita scrambled in for 2-1, then with 10 to go an equaliser was again scrambled over the line. 2-2. The lads were wilting and Unita pulled it out of the bag when the midfielder ran through unopposed, and shot from outside the box to bag the winner.
Massive performances from all the lads today and very unlucky not to hold out for at least a point.
