A great goal scored but its not enough to save the Rams as the unbeaten run comes to an end in the wind and rain!!

As the rain came the game kicked off, and after a couple of minutes the Rams went a goal down as the visitors used the slope on the Cricket field to their advantage. As Saville Town poured forward it was left to Thomas Ketteringham to make his darting runs through their defence to try and kick start the Rams. Unfortunately as the Rams chased the equalizer Saville Town broke and scored a soft second goal, which led to an injury to our goalkeeper Oliver Gledhill. It was then down to our defender Euan McKay to put on the green jersey and the gloves. Although the Rams had a few chances in the first half this proving to be their hardest test so far against a good side. If it wasn’t for great defending from our rock in the defence Robert Wood the score line at half time would have looked as gloomy as the clouds above.

Half Time 0-2

The second half got under way, and it was now upto the Rams to use the advantage of the slope. Despite the tricky skills shown from the Reid twins Kaellan and Harris the Rams continued to struggle to get back into the game. Jamie Sheldon had a couple of runs and chances where the ball just wouldn’t bounce in our favour. The defensive back line of Euan McKay, Robert Wood and Ollie Gledhill stood firm against the odd counter attack as the Rams began to dominate the game.

Harris/Kaellan/Thomas K and Jamie were running the visitors ragged but still could not force a breakthrough. With five minutes to go he ball was won in midfield by Kaellan Reid, he then carried the ball forward and then passed to Lucas Waterworth who was in a wide position on the right hand side, suddenly a gap opened up and with the shouts of ‘hit it’ from his Dad, Lucas delivered a perfect cross to the far post where in charged striker Thomas Conlon who met the cross with a bullet header that flew straight into the top corner of the net to make it 1-2. A truly fantastic goal!!! It was now time for the Rams to try and get the equalizer or even win the game.
Sadly time ticked away and despite a couple more chances the Rams were beaten for the first time this season. The boys played well, scored a great goal and maybe should have taken a point, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

Final Score 1-2
