As the rain pours so do the goals, as Rams take revenge on Brighouse!!

The heavy rain on Thursday evening was not enough to dampen the fantastic spirit of the Rams as they set about a Brighouse side, who had robbed them of a deserved victory, the week before, to earn a draw with the last kick of the game. Straight from the off the Ram’s started the brighter and got a quick reward from a Kaellan Reid strike, which rebounded to him to knock in after a Thomas Conlon shot hit the post 1-0. It was soon two, but this time it was his twin brother Harris who scored with a great shot into the corner. Brighouse rallied but time and again they could not get past Euan McCay in defence who has become the most consistent Rams player all season. Euans display in the match disheartened the Brighouse forward line as every time they broke forward there was no way past. Jamie Sheldon’s tough tackling assisted by Thomas Ketteringham and Oliver Gledhill in midfield meant that the Rams’ looked menacing every time they broke and soon enough the third was scored. Kaellan Reid getting his second playing a great one two before finishing past a stranded keeper.

Half time 3-0

The second half started pretty much the way it ended with the Rams completely dominating. The forth came from a great shot Harris for his second after the ball broke to him he drove the ball past the keeper. Brighouse pushed forward again but found no way through the hardworking Ram’s defence with Jack Allwood hardly getting a touch, but when called upon pulling off two great saves. When he was beaten defender Robert (right place right time) Wood was there to clear the ball and preserve our lead. The fifth was scored when Lucas Waterworth broke from midfield and he then spotted a brilliant run from Jamie S who strode down the line, before putting in a fantastic cross to Thomas Conlon, who finished with an accurate strike. Another soon followed when Thomas Ketteringham went on a mazy run slotting the ball past the on rushing keeper, only to see his great shot come back of the post for Thomas C to claim his second by gratefully bang into the net 6-0. From a great Euan McCay clearance, Harris found space in midfield when he skipped past a challenge before putting Kaellan through for a one on one with the keeper. As the keeper came out Kaellan slotted the ball through the legs of the keeper and watched as eventually it rolled over the line for a fantastic Hat –trick!! 7-0, despite the efforts of a Brighouse defender. With time running out the Rams passed their way to their 8th goal of the game. Lucas won the ball in midfield and found Kaellan who played a one two with Harris beat his man then sent over a great ball to Rams’ leading scorer Thomas C, who then controlled the ball, steadied himself before smashing the ball home for his hat trick!!

Cue scenes of complete joy for the whole team as the whistle was blown to signal the end of the game. Well done to the whole of the team as this ranks as one of the best ever performances from the Rams’.
