After a long trip in which the route was negotiated using Lyndon’s Australian Tom Tom!!, we eventually found the school and pitch where the game was to take place (all thanks Keith S). The hosts from the start came straight at the Rams on a heavy pitch, the Rams stood firm with great goalkeeping from Ollie G. The Rams knew they would be in for a battle but rose to the challenge with great tackling from Jack A and Jamie S in the midfield, not to mention Euan M and Robert W in defence. The ball kept coming back at the Rams and in quick succession we lost two soft goals, which could have meant this was going to be one of those games. Instead it rallied the Rams. Harris R won the ball in midfield and drifted passed two players on the right wing before crossing low to his brother Kaellan to sweep the ball home and get the Rams back in the game at 2-1.
Half time 2-1
The Rams straight after half time poured forward again, but went even further behind when Dewsbury scored a third. (3-1) Again this only served to inspire the boys to go on and get something from the match. The Rams were excellent and had chance after chance but couldn’t get the goal they deserved. It wasn’t until mid way through the 2nd half that the breakthrough came, after a neat pass from Thomas Conlon. Kaellan R broke through taking on their last defender before knocking the ball passed the Dewsbury keeper to make it (3-2). By this time the Rams were dominant and with only seconds to spare Thomas K collected the ball centrally, made space and then unleashed a rocket shot which flew into the corner of the net passed the keeper, a great goal!!. (3-3) As soon as the goal went in the referee blew his whistle for full time.
Full time 3-3
The Rams had pulled off a great result against the top side and took a richly deserved point for their second half comeback. Fantastic hard working team performance boys we were all very proud of you!!
