Ugly win for the Rams!!

The game started with the Rams pushing forward on a huge pitch which was marked as a Rugby field!! Their opponents not offering any threat other than to get their biggest player on the field to hit the ball as far as he could and to try and get on the end of his own shot, pass etc..
The Rams were by far head and shoulders above their opponents in skill and will to get the ball down and play football. Chance after chance went begging through shots from Harris Reid, Kaellan Reid, Thomas Ketteringham and Thomas Conlon. Their keeper was in form saving these shots, and was fortunate to be keeping a clean sheet for the majority of the first half. With our keeper Jack Allwood having nothing to do, the Rams continued to bombard their opponents goal, but to no avail. We were starting to think that it wasn't going to be our day especially when our defender Euan McCay was fouled causing him to have to come off the field. This was the turning point which seemed to rally the team into playing some great passing football through midfield from Jamie Sheldon,Thomas C,and the Reid twins. This led to fantastic lob from Thomas K, flying into the net over the keepers head to put us in front.
DD 0-1 NR.Robert Wood stood firm once again stood firm in defence as a replacement for the temporarily injured Euan.

Half Time DD 0-1 NR

The second half began like the first half ended basically a procession. Oliver Gledhill and Robert Wood commanded the defence enabling Euan McCay to charge forward on a few occasions. It seemed only a matter of time that we would score, but the keeper was leading a charmed life saving from various attempts, plus Kaellan's shot which hit the bar. Jamie Sheldon eventually struck the second through a crowded goal mouth.DD 0-2 NR. By this time Lucas Waterworth was carving to shreds the home defence with his great balls through to our attack. The third came in the last couple of minutes with Thomas K, going on a mazy run before crossing for Thomas C to volley home !! DD 0-3 NR.

Full Time DD 0-3 NR

As said before the win was ugly and we should have scored more against the opposition but, we are more than happy with the points and the gritty team performance. Well done boys, look forward to the local derby against Brighouse next week!!
